deck the halls {silver + pine}

It is especially early for me to pull out the holiday decor but last night I fully decked my home! As always, I love simple and understated holiday decor. A pine and silver palette is especially appealing to me at the moment for its elegance and classic appeal.

a soak + sleep

I had a wonderful and snowy Sunday on the slopes--however the ski fitness yoga class I have been taking did not prevent an exhausted body. All I want to do is take a long hot soak and curl up in a plush bedroom...

thanksgiving {in cranberry and pumpkin}

I have always put so much effort into coming up with a unique Thanksgiving palette but I forgot how lovely the traditional colors of the holiday can be. I am currently enamored with the combination of deep rich cranberry with golden pumpkin.

lovely log {storage}

This weekend I think I went through over 15 logs in my wood stove-- 'tis that time of year. I do not have enough space to stack my wood inside so each fire leads to a snowy adventure on to my deck. However, I do love these indoor log storage solutions...

home crush {worn + refined}

This home is so warm and welcoming. It looks as though it has been lovingly lived in forever. I love the weathered look of the fireplace mixed with the clean lines of the coffee table.

And although my feet are chilly just thinking about having a brick kitchen floor, it really is the perfect choice for this adorable farmhouse inspired kitchen.

However, my favorite room in this amazing dressing room---the high back of the sofa and the bamboo lamps and of course the feminine botanical print pillows!

kitchen crush {sleek and functional}

It has been a while since I have posted about my fascination with eat-in kitchens, perhaps because none have piqued my fancy lately. I tend to love bright kitchens but the combination of the white ceiling adds a sense of airiness to the slate and wood palette. No wonder Canadian House and Home named it kitchen of the year.

color pops {draped in indigo}

I just love the billowing taupe fabric and touches of indigo in these rooms. It is whimsical yet sophisticated--a perfect combination in my mind.

room to wardrobe {navy + animal print}

I am typically not a fan of animal print in interiors, as it tends to make a space busier than it needs to be. However when I see it well done and in a playful and glamorous manner, like this space from Mary McDonald I am a little more open minded to the idea. I love the way she uses navy blue to add some classic flair to the leopard print.

The same principal is appealing to me when it comes to the wardrobe as well.

weekend retreat

Oh, Friday how I love you. I am looking forward to a restful weekend and dreaming of taking a getaway to a place like this. I love the rough textures, neutral palette and simplicity-- a perfect place to unwind.

refreshing palette

Kelly green is a favorite of many designers as it packs a fresh bold punch to any room. I love the way the small shots of this vibrant color are the allowed to be the star of these rooms. The white, black and wood tones are the perfect background to give kelly that extra punch.

craving {divine + demure jewels}

The Fall/Winter 2010 collection from Lizzie Fortunato is my favorite that she has yet produced. I love bold, chunky yet feminine jewellery and all her pieces hit that mark. The styling of the photos and names for each necklace put this collection over the edge, in a very good way.

loving {whimsical landscapes}

I was recently asked about my taste in art and I hesitated in my response as I could picture it but not quite describe it without using more than 20 words! After a little pondering and searching through my inspiration files I found that at the root of my art taste is a whimsical, subdued and classic quality. Just like these beautiful pieces...

three mirrors are better than one

My jaw dropped when I saw this room. What first struck me was the incredible balance and scale. As with most great rooms, this room certainly has a a focal point--the triple mirrors. I love the sense of illusion they add. I am tempted to buy three inexpensive floor length mirrors and replicate this in my bedroom.

a golden touch

It is such a dreary day and I was just in the mood for a little golden sparkle and to lust after one amazing bar cart.

home crush {a modern fairytale}

Does this home just not remind you of where a modern day fairytale would take place? It is so whimsical and welcoming. The design is so simple yet there are so many lovely details.

november styling {owls}

I cannot believe that it is November and that the weekend of All Hollows Eve has ended. I am really hoping that my pumpkin keeps for a while, as it is carved with an owl, and I have a mild obsession with anything that hoots. Maybe I will just have to find some owl d├ęcor that keeps through the year. Possibly a small statue for my coffee table.....

Or an adorable yet simple print...
