happy {memorial day} weekend

Wow--what a busy week it has been! I am definitely looking forward to the long weekend, spending time with friends and being thankful for all the men and women that have served and are serving this country.

home crush {clean slate}

One of my friends is renovating her home and I went over today to check it out. Currently all the walls are white (although not all will stay that way) and it reminded me how much I love that fresh clean slate feeling. As this home shows, even with simple and muted accessories the look is nothing close to boring

(via nuevo estilo--surprise, surprise!)
Also, thank you so much to everyone for "liking" the new delight by design page on facebook!

morning eye candy {pretty + simple patios}

I have been busy working on a memorial day inspiration board but it is not quite ready, so in the meantime just a little outdoor eye candy. I just love the simple nature of this patio dining areas-perfect for an al fresco brunch with friends!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

cheap(er) chic {memorial day must haves}

The fact that snow is currently coming down makes it hard to imagine that memorial day is just around the corner. We have truly had some crazy spring weather here in Jackson. I am just hoping that by the weekend it will warm up enough for me to pull out a white dress and pair it with colorful accessories. I thought this brightly accented kitchen was the perfect inspiration for such a look.

kate spade idiom bangle ($78), michael kors straw clutch ($178), virginia johnson shawl ($195), paloma barcelo flats ($195) and dvf linen tunic($245),
To be honest I built the whole outfit around the shoes-they are pretty lovely, no? Also, I have finally created a facebook page for delight by design where I plan to post additional content and inspirational photo galleries.

dream living {brownstone beauty}

I have a long checklist for my perfect home . The dwelling of Caleo and Fitzhugh Karo pretty much ticks off everything of the list! Starting with the big (that it is a charming brownstone and has perfect shelving) all the way down to the minute (succulents over a farmhouse sink + library ladder) and everything in between (wide white plank floors combined with natural wood pieces).

Do you have a checklist? Have you found a home that's architecture and interior design comes close?

fashioning interiors {tied up in Chanel Resort 2011}

The 2011 Chanel Resort line is absolutely amazing! I adore each and every single piece but these simple sashed looks are the ones I would most love to add to my closet. Not sure how one would not feel instantly stylish in anyone of them. Their fresh and sophisticated look also make them an ideal inspiration for interiors.

rest + renewal

Wow, storm clouds really are great motivation to get up and down from hiking the local buttes quickly! I just made it up one of my favorites in record time but now my body is exhausted. A nice hot soak in this lovely tiled tub sounds perfect right now.

And would I am sure I would instantly be rejuvenated after collapsing in this bedroom.

Hope you are having a lovely evening! Be back and hopefully fully recovered tomorrow.

event inspiration {hot+cold}

As many of you may have realized I love the combination of warm and cool color palettes in interiors. However, I had never applied that same look to an event board, soooo.....

And not surprisingly I love it! Best part, it works year round.

home crush {meg ryan's breezy abode}

Today I received one of my favorite types of e-mails, the ones that tells me the newest digital edition of my favorite design pubs are available. Today is was Elle Decor and I have no doubt that the home of Meg Ryan will be popping up everywhere in blogland. Just in case you have not seen it yet, I just had to make sure you did. Much like Meg's style and personality the home is breezy, classic and perfectly feminine.

Now I am patiently waiting for Canadian House and H0me to arrive in my inbox!

cheaper chic {prairie perfect}

It has been way too long since I have put together a cheap(er) chic post! It is always fun to lust over lanvin and ogle oscar de la renta but there are so many stylish + less expensive options. I thought I would ease back into this series with a wallet friendly prairie chic looks.

a blue sky morning

This morning I was in shock to wake up with the sun streaming through my windows and for blue sky to be making a rare appearance. It is amazing how seeing that brilliant blue mountain sky lifted my spirits. I think I may need to add a dose of the color to my home if spring remains an elusive--such a versatile and uplifting color!

loving {equestrian inspired handbags}

Just popping in quickly to express my complete admiration for these stunning Spool No. 72 handbags made from salvaged Native American rugs. Of course I love anything with an equestrian motif!

Have a great day and be back later!

{bold} may blooms

When I was hiking this past weekend I was overjoyed to see little buds popping out along the trail. There is really nothing that lifts my spirits more than bright matter where they are.

simple styling + natural elements

What better way to start the week than with a few refreshing, neutral and simple interiors. As much as I love playing with colorful paint swatches I will always gravitate towards the whites, creams and grays when looking for a clean look.

Wishing you a lovely and fresh start to the week!

Happy Mother's Day

It took a few months of writing delight by design to tell my parents about my "interest" but ever since my mom has been my biggest supporter. She is not only the reason I am interested in interior design but has constantly nurtured the interest. She sends me care packages of design magazines, took me on my first trip to the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, reads the home related articles from the Chicago Tribune to me over the phone, always is providing post ideas and even entrusted me to arrange and style the table for Christmas this past year.

So, thank you mom for everything! Happy Mother's day!

loving {bold color + zig zags}

The past few days I have been pulling out my winter clothes again, which is not overly enjoyable. However, I know the day will soon come when a summer wardrobe will be appropriate and I can sport bold colors and playful zig zags!

(marc jacobs bag, dvf python flats, tory burch bib necklace and dvf dress)

feminine + formal

Yesterday I was pushing my design comfort zone in a masculine and moody direction. Today I decided to push the other end of the spectrum with this lovely feminine and formal home. Again, not exactly my personal style but I think it is always important to explore and appreciate different ones.

Would love to have woken up to those sweet peas by my bedside instead of the snow falling from the sky.

would you go charcoal?

I have to be honest, I am not a huge fan of black as the prominent color in a space. I know that it is sexy and dramatic but it just isn't my style. I came across this bedroom and surprisingly feel in love with the dark charcoal! The white bedding and ceiling really make this space one of my new favorites. I could do without the chair though...

Would you consider such a dark color for your bedroom?

fashioning interiors {breezy summer style}

The latest looks to arrive at Calypso all exude their signature simple, casual and playful look, making them all instant summer staples. The colors and style are wonderful inspiration for sophisticated and breezy interiors.

workspace inspiration {suzanne kasler}

Oh Monday, how quickly you came! It would have been so much easier to pry myself from the bed this morning if this was the office space I was headed too. It is the lovely and bright office of one of my favorite interior designers, Suzanne Kasler, as featured in Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles.

(images from the latest Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and photographed by Erica George Dines)
Wishing you all a lovely Monday!
