romantic + rustic

I have been on quite the rustic kick lately and I truly believe it is because of the calming and romantic atmosphere the look can create. I think these spaces are the perfect examples of that...

Hope you have a lovely weekend! And don't forget to enter the kage famers market tote giveaway!

soothing symmetry

This week has been quite chaotic and I expect that today will be the same way. I thought the clean style and impeccable symmetry of this sitting area would help to start the day with order.

the great outdoors

Yesterday morning I woke up to my daffodils blooming and sunny skies but today I was greeted with chilly air and snow covering my deck. Hopefully tomorrow I can wake up and have this lovely outdoor area in my backyard...

Wishful thinking I know but it would be a wonderful place to start the day with a cup of coffee. Have a great Wednesday!

color crush {rust + pewter}

As I have said before, I love the combination of warm and cool colors. It is a foolproof way to create a cozy space. This is especially true when done with neutrals, like these rusty red and pewter grays.

event inspiration {refined rustic}

Living in a mountain town I constantly find myself trying to steer clear of rustic style but to be honest when comes to events it is my favorite theme. When refined and simple it creates the perfect party atmosphere. Think horseshoes, barns and bonfires...

Sounds like a fun party, right?

happy {rosy} weekend

The past few days I have been repeating to myself "April showers bring May flowers" and I am definitely ready for the latter part of that saying to come true. I just can't wait to fill my home fresh cut flowers.

eye candy {italian rustic}

One of my co-workers is vacationing to Italy next week and to say that I am jealous is an understatement. All of her talk about the amazing food and plans they have are most certainly making me want to jump right inside the book Italian Rustic.

flowers + graphic patterns

I was just walking out the door for the day and was delayed when I saw these clutches from emersonmade pop up on my computer screen. I just had to share. Combine her adorable flowers with fabulous graphic patterns and my attention is piqued.

Ok, guess I better be on my way now! Happy Wednesday.

sleek + sophisticated {home office}

It is on sunny and warm days like today that I wish I worked at home and could easily sneak out to my deck and lounge in my adirondack chair. However, my office would have to be spectacular enough to get me back inside. Perhaps a sophisticated one like this one with its high gloss black paint, unique moldings and adorable mirrored tables would do to trick!

sweet slumber {cream + green}

I never thought that in the same weekend of hiking in shorts and a tank top that I would also be skiing--but this weekend that was the case and it made for an incredible one. However, I am currently just exhausted and would love to soak in this bathroom...

and then sink into this bed

Love the calming colors and straightforward simple design. Hope you all had a lovely weekend as well!

loving {wall of mirrors}

Looking to create a unique and impacting look in your bathroom without renovation? I am smitten with the idea of having not just one mirror over the sink but many. Adds such fun visual interest and will distract the eye from any flaws the space may have.

fashioning interiors {trina turk}

We had a little hint of summer in the weather today and I was actually in just shorts and a tank on my afternoon hike. It made me beyond excited for summer and the playful and colorful looks of the season. Trina Turk has long been my go to for sensible and fashionable summer looks. And the 2010 summer line happens to go quite well with some of my favorite interiors of the moment.

pretty in pewter+texture

I have had quite a few talks lately with friends regarding color and pewter grays seem to dominate. I am not surprised, as in the past couple years it has become a very popular hue in both fashion and interior design. I am currently loving these tones look when mixed with rich textures and bold patterns.

home tour {elsa peretti}

The creations of elsa peretti are the epitome of organic and simple design. So it comes as no surprise that her retreat outside of Barcelona embodies those qualities as well. I am completely drawn to the cozy sensibility. Hmm...wonder if she would rent it to me for the off season.

event inspiration {bits of midnight blue}

If you are hosting a party this spring or summer don't be scared to incorporate dark and moody colors into the palette. Although they may seem inappropriate they are actually the perfect backdrop for the brighter colors of the seasons. My current favorite is deep midnight blue--I especially love the way that pinks and yellows pop against it.

sunday sponsor {ella wrap}

Did you know that each year 38,000 miles of ribbon alone are thrown out in the U.S., which is enough to tie a bow around the Earth? One solution to this excessive ribbon use is found in the lovely reusable and sustainable gift packaging from Ella Wrap. They have a wide range of sizes and styles, ranging from the simple and elegant...

To bold and graphic.

I highly recommend you all hop on over and take a peak at their full range of options.

happy {catch up} weekend

After a few busy weekends in a row I am looking forward to a quiet and productive weekend checking of items on my rapidly growing to do list. I am also hoping to find a little time to curl up and read, and this would be the perfect sleeping porch for just that...

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

home crush {thoughtful design}

I think that there is a lot to be said about over thinking interior design to the point where it can cause a home to look staged and unlivable. I think the details and care that went into this home are thoughtful but not over thought--truly an exquisite example of well used materials, scale, symmetry, and color.

loving {lizzie fortunato}

Ever since I first saw the creations of Lizzie Fortunato Jewels last year I have been in awe of her flirty and creative ability. Each line is inspired by a unique theme--from the open road to summer camp. Her latest line for summer 2010 is by far my favorite and inspired by the "story of finding an abandon Indian palace where evidence of a grand party remain."

The ones incorporating rope are definitley my favorite. Such a fun blend of nautical whimsy.

And they have such great names too!

just for fun {teal + chartreuse}

You are probably thinking really, teal and chartreuse? Yes, really! I have to admit I had to study this space a few times before I was sold on it. I think that it works well here because there is so much going on to distract the eye from the daring color and is pulled together so well in the accessories, especially the area rug and beaded chandelier.

(via ny social diary)
I could however do without some of the clutter!

lighten up {pale wood + pastels}

Whether whitewashed or bleached I am finding quite the soft spot for the lightened up look these treatments give woodwork. I especially love when they are paired with soft pastels to create the perfect cozy hideaway...which I would love on this very snowy day!

And isn't that table just stunning!?

glamorous neutrals

Looking back on my week of posts it seems there is a common theme--neutral and natural spaces. I will never grow bored of them. There is a calm and understated glamour that only a neutral palette full of layered texture can provide. The same rings true for my favorite staples for this spring...
