oscar, take me away!

Sorry for the belated post but it was just one of those days where Murphy's Law ruled and I am definitely need of a little daydreaming to take a break from it all. One look at the Spring 2010 line from Oscar de la Renta and I am instantly taken away to all the marvelous places and occasions where these luxurious pieces could be worn. Not to mention how well the lines pairs with some of my all time favorite rooms.

Ahh...hope the start of your week was not quite as stressful!

thanksgiving recap

I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend! I survived and thoroughly enjoyed hosting my first Thanksgiving, cooking my second turkey and spending time with great friends. I also loved creating a festive, simple and casual table around a burlap runner I recently purchased..

I created the floral arrangement from ranunculus, orchids, bay and wheat.

And didn't have any cloth napkins so I cut up two vintage tea towels and then tied some wheat and a cattail with twine to top them off.

Although it was not a traditional tabletop I really loved the splashes of color and vintage flair. What did you top your table with this year?

Happy Thanksgiving!

As this is my fisrt year hosting Thanksgiving dinner I am quite busy prepping food, flowers, and decor. So I am going to sign off for the week. But didn't want to do so without thanking all of the loyal delight by design readers that make sharing my thoughts on living a styling life so much more fun and my fellow bloggers for constantly inspiring me! And just in case you need some last minute decor these glittered pumpkins are a fantastic and easy solution.

I hope you all have an absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving!! I am really excited about my tablescape (went with an orange and blue color scheme with a classic flair) and will hopefully share some photos soon.

holiday table inspiration

I am so excited and a bit nervous to be hosting Thanksgiving this year and have been searching for simple yet festive tabletop inspiration. I am a bit torn between a traditional fall color palette with a soft touch...

A more elegant and classic look...

Rifle Paper Co.

I have been patiently (well, maybe not patiently--I check multiple times a day) for the online shop of the incredibly talented Anna Bond to open. And today is the day! After all that anticipation I was not let down. The shop is filled with her signature whimsical, colorful and simply stunning work that never fails to bring a smile to my face. Just a small little sampling...

I think the little dog cards are my favorite--would be such an excellent gift for a dog lover!

morning eye candy [serenity]

I cannot believe it is Monday already! I had a fun yet exhausting weekend and need a little moment of calm and serenity to start off the thankfully (short) work week. The cool mint and gold combination, simple lines and symmetry of this entryway seemed like the perfect way to do just that!

Hope you all had wonderful weekends as well. Be back in a bit with some more holiday tabletop inspiration!

cheap(er) chic: table covering

I think the decor that I was most stressed about for Thanksgiving was a table covering. I looked at all the local stores and really didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for a one time use tablecloth. So I actually wound up buying this burlap runner (as featured on style me pretty!) for a very reasonable price. However, if that fell though I was truly tempted to just use kraft paper.

It is inexpensive table covering option and definitely won't need to be immediately treated when stained with red wine.

What will you be dressing your table with this year!

daily fashion fix

I loved the last collection from Australian based Woodford & Co and am even more impressed with their current one. It is sweet, elegant and feminine. If I had to choose one line that defined my style this would definitely be it!

Now, if it was only warm enough here to wear such lovely pieces! Maybe I should should just move down under for the US winter!

the one [2010 calendar]

Calendars for the coming year are currently dominating the blog world. I usually explore and admire all the options before buying one but this year I saw the ink+wit calendar over a month ago and instantly knew that it was "the one".

The combination of whimsical imagery and letterpress is truly my kryptonite and a signature of all of ink+wit's offerings.

Not to mention the fact that the brains and creativity of the company, Tara Hogan, is more than incredibly talented but super sweet and writes a lovely blog.

I can't wait for it to come in the mail! Have you found your 2010 calendar?

craving {deep pile morrocan rugs}

When it comes to choosing a rug there is so much to consider--from durability, color to comfort. For me comfort is paramount, especially in the winter months, and there is a rug that is not only cozy on the feet but the perfect canvas and first layer of any room, no matter what the style or color palette. That rug is the popular deep pile Moroccan rug.

home crush {entertaining ready}

I find that when it comes to holiday entertaining that a great space that makes guests feel at home and makes cooking up a storm for a party of 12 painless is essential. And this is my perfect dream house for just that. From the second the guests open the door they feel like they are in for a special treat from the whimsical architectural detail and understated glamorous accents.

And then can comfortably enjoy the perfectly made cocktail in an elegant sitting area that's neutral palette is the perfect backdrop for holiday decor.

And just in case dinner is running late, can convene in a kitchen that no host would be embarrassed by.

Then of course a fantastic dining room that reinforces the festiveness of the holiday and inspires fantastic conversation.

All ending with a glass of port (I just loving ending a night with one) and blazing fire.

Yes, I definitely need this home, and not just for its entertaining value bit for its overall aesthetic. Not sure I could walk through the front door of this home and not smile!

inspiring sugar rush

Committing to a color palette is difficult, as there is always the unknown of how the colors will work together. Which is why I always love seeing color combinations somewhere else first, especially somewhere unexpected. My newest favorite source for this variety of inspiration is confections.

(via domino and sweet and saucy shop)
It is how I learned that I loved the combination of slate, cream and hunter green as well as well as taupe, gold, leaf green and deep royal purple.

Where have you been finding color inspiration lately, anywhere unexpected? And thank you so much for all your thoughts on my mirror location (see below post)!
